A collaborative approach to design; using simulation to evaluate the intersection of architectural design on patient safety, staff wellbeing, and work efficiency
The workshop at the SCDH will give you a comprehensive understanding of how to design the hospitals of the future by integrating patient safety theory, operational efficienc, simulation techniques, end-user engagement strategies, and developing a compelling business case.

On the first day, you will learn about the latest trends in healthcare design; on the second day, you will use Switzerland‘s largest extended reality simulation area to evaluate and optimize spaces and processes.

Lecturer:
Nora Colman, MD is an Assistant Professor in Pediatrics in the division of Pediatric Critical Care Medicine and a practicing pediatric intensive care physician at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. Her research focuses on the intersection of healthcare design and patient safety. She has extensive experience in leading large scale simulation projects to uncover and mitigate latent safety threats in architectural design. She is also passionate about the intersection of space utilisation, clinical operations, and care delivery. Her strong clinical background coupled with simulation and patient safety expertise provides a unique lens through which to view facility design.
